Ultimate irony — Oklahoma City skyline appears on Austin postcard.

When you buy a postcard of the Austin skyline, you expect to see the state capitol and maybe the UT Tower. That’s not what an Austin man found when he purchased one at Walgreen’s on South Lamar.

Statesman icon John Kelso reports today that a slew of postcards showing the Oklahoma City skyline were printed, and sold, with the word “AUSTIN” slapped across the photo.

It’s not hard to understand why a town would want to pose as Austin, but it’s just not right.  Actually, we’re pretty sure this was an honest mistake — that is, if honesty is something that happens in a state founded by “sooners,” a term used to described settlers who cheated to get land.
Austin Skyline?

OK City poses as Austin

If AUSTIN were slapped across a beautiful city like San Francisco or Paris, we might just keep our mouths shut. But OK City? Someone’s head’s gotta roll.

You can be sure this little incident will appear in the next version of Cityism.  And be prepared, because the next time you see a photo of a longhorn standing in a field of bluebonnets, it just might have HONALULU stamped across it.
